Will the Statistics Support Program?

What comes to mind when you hear the words "convicted felon?" Most people tend to think trouble. Through the FCI Morgantown Prison Project, we hope to change the typical stereo-type of convicted felons by increasing the productivity and employment rate of recently released inmates.

The success of the project will be measured statistically through observation. For example, How long it took the felon to aquire employment. Theconvicts will be required every month to provide information about employment and the effort they are exserting.

The results of this questionaire will be compiled statistically and conclusions will be made on the raw data that was provided by the felons. This will help measure the success rate of the program and give insight on how well this model will work in other federal and state penitenaries. Proposed Program Projected to Increase Convict Employment!

Have you ever thought finding a job is hard to do? Inmates of FCI Morgantown that are due to be released in 6 months are about to realize how hard it is to re-enter the workforce. English 304 Community is volunteering to teach these inmates how to compose a resume in 6 week course that will meet once a week at FCI Morgantown Prison.

The goal of this project is to increase the empoyment rate of released felons. To accomplish this feat, The English 304 Community will teach basic cover letter, resume writing skills, and the basic steps of aquiring employment . It is our hope that with good coverletters, resumes, and knowledge of the interview process the convicts will aquire employment in  6 month of being released and are able to sustain this employment.

Most prisons in america are filled to capacity. The success of this program could manifest itself into a nationwide program to decrease repeat offenders, which will decrease the current prison population. The FCI Morgantown prison program can be a start to a solution to a bigger problem.
